Nymphlord – “Boardwalk Saturday Night”

/

Intriguing in its expanse from sleepy acoustics to a melodic rock soaring, “Boardwalk Saturday Night” is a new single from Nymphlord. The Northern California-based singer/songwriter and producer shows a climactic engrossment throughout. Ghostly acoustics build into the “dagger in my eyes,” visceral description, as guitar twangs and crisp percussion bolster.

The mid-point enamors with its fluttering guitars and multi-layered vocal caressing, exuding a lush and hooky appeal with shades of Tennis and Japanese Breakfast. Bursts of guitar distortion then inject a sense of finality, concocting a blast of energy in the final minute.

“This song came to me in a very visual way,” Nymphlord explains. “I imagined walking down a dark alleyway towards warm, glowing candle light at the end, and a crowd of people at a wooden table on the other side. It’s a sonic representation of what it feels like to fall into a memory. I hope you’ll have a good time sinking into it too!”

The track comes via Nymphlord’s new EP, Mothers Cry And Then We Die.:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.
