Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends – “Dirty Dick Dies”

/

Another strong showing from Swedish artist Arn-Identified Flying Objects And Alien Friends, “Dirty Dick Dies” presents a stylish sound — fit for the Black Lodge in Twin Peaks. The finger-clicking percussion, moody vocals, and brassy envelopment leads a gripping thematic pursuit, which per the artist tells “the story of the death of a ruthless man.”

With an emphasis on storytelling and atmosphere, “Dirty Dick Dies” stirs in its aesthetic — somewhat different from the project’s more rock-minded enthusiasm and pep. “He liked to dream about days gone by, but today he felt that rage burning in his eye,” the vocals let out into smooth brass and twinkling keys. The doctor’s eventual “it doesn’t look good,” diagnosis culminates into an attempt at self-discovery and reckoning, captivating with its stylistic intrigue and debonair vocals.

The track comes via Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends’ album No Sweets for E.:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
