Daydreamer’s Night Club – “The Energy” + “Take a Break”

/

A dynamic rock sound, ranging from punchy punk-tinged ardency to dreamy intrigue, is on display from Daydreamer’s Night Club. The project is led by Los Angeles-based artist Tim van Niekerk. Two recent singles in “The Energy” and “Take a Break” showcase their ardently melodic rock approach.

“The Energy” is exemplary of their aforementioned range. Trickling guitars complement an impassioned lead and lush backing reflections, lamenting on “the misfortune of everything,” into a dreamy immersion — “sparkles in our eyes.” The “tonight I’m living like I’m dead,” proclamation swells steadily into the invigorating verses, with shades of The Killers.

Also impressing, “Take a Break” embraces the mellow spectrum with its warming bass line and calming guitar twangs. The vocal rises and bursts of guitar intertwine with gorgeous, replay-inducing qualities — pushed further by the stutter-y vocal touch amidst the tropical-minded key tones. These two tracks firmly show the catching, inventive songwriting from Daydreamer’s Night Club.

These and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
