Old Man Soul Club – “Smiling Boogaloo”

/

The uplifting and vibrant single “Smiling Boogaloo” beckons listeners to maintain a positive disposition, alongside a funky, debonair aesthetical styling with brassy injections and playful piano bounces. The track comes via London-based project Old Man Soul Club, whose urging to “try the smiling boogaloo,” plays with a fun, spirited enticement amidst a Brit-pop flair.

“You show your friend, and your friend will smile too,” the vocals let out, exuding the contagious effect of smiles. Brassy blaring weaves in thereafter, with clap-laden percussion then accompanying a strive to “practice smiling,” while you’re walking about and beyond; if only everyone in the world smiled at each other, imagine the harmony. There’s ample darkness throughout the world, and “Smiling Boogaloo” provides a blast of enthusiasm that encourages smiles, and is likely to produce one amongst its listeners.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
