Window Sill – “Mourning Dove”

//

Seattle-based project Window Sill deliver a memorable sound on their single “Mourning Dove.” The track stirs in its expanding, orchestral-touched folk emotion — conveying a hospital waiting room point-of-view with artful appeal.

Trickling guitars and somber strings lead into the brooding vocal feeling, with ensuing brass injections and “would you forgive me?” questioning continuing the stylish allure. The “if I lose my grace…” punctuation adds a chilling sense of vulnerability, fitting for the setting and resulting loss-of-control introspection.

The track is described as “a mournful tune from the point of view of a woman in a hospital waiting room.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
