A Sudden Burst of Colour – “Vertigo Season”

/

“Vertigo Season” is a compelling single out today from Scottish band A Sudden Burst of Colour, whose instrumental rock sound compels with a textured, climactic engrossment. Their balance of hypnotic post-punk rhythms, electronic soundscapes, and hooky pop enamoring make for an (aptly) colorful sound, immersing with both its melodic and atmospheric strengths.

Reverbed guitars lend a late-night mystique as the track opens. Dexterous percussion integrates seamlessly, excelling into spacey effects past the one-minute mark. Flickering guitars and thumping bass converge around the mid-point, escalating beautifully into jangly guitar shimmers. A captivating glow emerges from the meshing of trickling rhythm guitars, a brighter lead, and nocturnal rhythmic feelings. “Vertigo Season” is a thoroughly successful showing from A Sudden Burst of Colour — and we’re excited to hear whatever’s next.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
