Housewyfe – “Light Instead”

//

San Diego-based artist Housewyfe dazzles on her debut single “Light Instead.” Wordless vocal dreaminess and playful synth/piano interplay concoct a dreamy immersion to start, crossing a ’70s folk-pop nostalgia with modern dream-pop allure. The vocals’ main emergence admits “it’s nothing new, I know,” into twinkling keys. Hazy, hypnotic guitars flourish past the first minute as the vocals fade, re-emerging upon asking “did you see the moon last night?”

“Light Instead” is a serenely enchanting showcase in production and melodic songwriting from Housewyfe. From the beginning’s serene intrigue into the delectably murky psych-pop movements approaching the three-minute mark, the track excels in conveying a blissful dream-like state of introspection.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
