Atlanta-based artist Koan shows a dreamy, magnetic allure on new single “Melody.” Jangly guitars and bright synth adornments complement a laid-back vocal presence initially, rousing during the “it’s been oh so long,” retrospection. A punchier hook ensues, signaled by the “stop!” cautionary vocals and sporadic guitar lines.
A title-touting caressing engrosses in the final minute, driving into multi-layered vocals and enthused guitars through the riveting conclusion; the sound is fondly reminiscent of Last Dinosaurs. “Melody” is a winner from Koan, who artfully meshes dreamy introspection and invigorating hookiness.
