omox – “alone”

/

“alone” is a moody rock single from omox, the solo project of Los Angeles-based artist Omar Ahmed. Also a touring bass player, Omar handles all writing and production with omox. “alone” shows a compelling soundscape as creaky guitars complement lyrics portraying an introspective prison of sorts. “I’m trapped in my brain, feel like there’s no escape,” the opening vocals let out, building to a haunting dual-vocal “it’s killing me,” admittance as hazy synths intermingle.

“The devil is trying to hold me down,” the next sequence begins. “He doesn’t know you’re my way out.” The late-night, atmospheric guitar stylings and lyrical battles against loneliness converge for a gripping production, full of mood and climactic engrossment.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
