Outerloop – “huracán”

/

Released today from Washington, D.C.-based band Outerloop, “huracán” showcases a darkly riveting rock sound — enamoring in both nocturnal post-punk contemplation and heavier guitar-based onslaughts. The project is led by the captivating vocal presence of Taisha Estrada and diverse guitar tones from Dan Potter.

Heavy guitar pulses evolve into a dexterous vocal delivery, exuding a heightened pace into the darkening invigoration. “You have 30 days!” the vocals declare with a menacing angst. The multi-lingual delivery compels with its range, as does the diversity between heavier guitar distortion and more debonair post-punk inclinations, sitting enjoyably between the “30 days!” exultation.

Estrada’s powerful, dynamic vocals pair engrossingly with Potter’s ardent guitar work, showing precisely why the band’s live shows receive ample praise; the energy here is palpable, even in this studio effort. The band is celebrating this single’s release with a 3-day run of shows through Virginia and D.C., so be sure to check them out!
