Isabella Dussias – “Honest”

/

Haunting strings and an ardent vocal performance star on “Honest,” a captivating new single from NYC-based artist Isabella Dussias. “I’m too honest with myself,” the vocals repeat during a heartrending rise, as lush acoustic trickles ascend into a stirring string-laden accompaniment. A wintry piano-led tone assumes prominence as the rhythm section kicks in, leading a consuming series of verses into another gorgeous escalation. “You choose a landslide over open fields,” the vocals let out, poetically capturing the surprise and tragedy of heartbreak, within a relationship where one side cannot commit.

“I followed in a trance, until the ceiling broke,” Dussias’ vocals soar into a rousing escalation, referencing the other side as hiding within smoke as one outpours their personal feelings. The strings’ role in signaling emotive rises play with spine-chilling impact, with Dussias’ dynamic vocal work spanning from lush introspection to ardent realizations of a growing disconnect. “I hope this song can provide some kind of catharsis to whoever may be experiencing a similar, frustrating situation,” Dussias says.
