Never2Late – “Love Is Wise”

/

Exuding a plea for love, kindness, and respect, “Love Is Wise” is a new single from Never2Late, a band led by Yorkshire, UK-based guitarist and songwriter SteveB. A familiarly inviting classic-rock production stirs throughout, alongside poignant sentiments from SteveB, who is also a semi-retired orthopedic surgeon.

“Why is there so much anger? Why is there so much pain?” the opening vocals ruminate, asking further: “Can we just agree to disagree before things get out of hand?” The call for love and peace proves resonating amidst a timeless-sounding rock sound, exuding useful mantras like “live without excuses, and love without regret,” while emphasizing the things that matter most, like loved ones. In a world abundant in strife and conflict, the track plays with a comforting and reassuring tone, emphasizing the individual and the power to make the most of one’s life, even as loftier world events seem out of one’s personal control.

A quote from Bertrand Russell — “we have to learn to tolerate each other…” — guides into a new vocal sequence, speaking to the commonalities that we share, even when differences tend to be prominently displayed. “Love Is Wise” plays with a kindly philosophy alongside a classic-rock fervency, making for a memorable success from Never2Late.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2023’ Spotify playlist.
