Wyldest – “Office Christmas Party”

/

Capturing the vibe of holiday work parties amidst a dreamy, introspective jangle-pop charm, “Office Christmas Party” is a new track from UK-based act Wyldest. The songwriting and production of Zoe Mead leads the talented project. The song certainly achieves a fuzzy, romantic enamoring in its conveying of two protagonists — co-workers “Julie” and “Mindy” — as they navigate the difference setting of a Christmas party, where the stuffiness of a typical workday dissipates in favor of a more jovial setting. Will they finally break free and express their feelings for each other?

“I’ve seen you around, I guess I’ve been too proud,” the vocals let out amidst twangy guitar affections, with the vocals touting a lush engrossment into the soulful “copy machine,” segment. A hazy Christmastime setting enamors amidst portrayal of a new relationship ignited, in the warm glow of Christmas nights and snowfalls. Wyldest says: “I hope the song makes people smile and feel warm and fuzzy inside. Christmas is a time for us all to drop the shackles of everyday life, have fun and tell people how we feel.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2023’ Spotify playlist.
