BUKVE – “Alive”

/

Norwegian singer/songwriter BUKVE casts a dreamy, introspective spell with new single “Alive,” out today. Dreamy guitar trickling arrives into the “still alive,” chorus, where anthemic guitar distortion and emotive vocal outpouring emphasize the artist’s eclectic glow. The lush guitar work in the introduction, and ensuing verses, are fondly reminiscent of Wild Nothing. Meanwhile, the erupting chorus produces a vigor fit for ’90s alt-rock star-gazing nostalgia. A ghostly “if I’m still alive,” concludes the track with chilling, satiating effect.

Sveinung Fossan Bukve, the artist behind the project, recorded this masterful single at Black Valley Studios in Oslo, with production coming via Stamos Koliousis. “Alive” represents the first of several singles, culminating in an album release this upcoming spring. “The song is about being alive, but not trying or being able to enjoy and explore how it is to be fully living,” Bukve explains. “How self restrictions also might limit our own evolving process and openness to new relations and interest for people that are different from yourself.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
