Preceding an upcoming album, “Onyx Skies” is described by the artist as “about the future journey of our species, potentially travelling into the great unknown of the universe.” Pending continues: “I’ve always found onyx a beautiful mineral, which reminds me of the deep, infinite expanse of space, and the emphasis on the letter x, is a reference to how in algebra, it is used to represent the unknown variable or quantity. “Onyx Skies” builds with patiently engrossing allure, developing with nostalgic synth tones and gradual vocal unveiling. The 50-second mark unveils a chilly synth line, meshing cohesively with the buzzing undercurrent.
