Driftwood Scarecrow – “Wormhole”

//

Mellow acoustics and sleepy synths lead the contemplative track “Wormhole,” a track from Driftwood Scarecrow, the project of northern Virginia-based artist Chris Greene. Representing the first single from upcoming album Counting Wolves, “Wormhole” also showcases the project’s recent electronic infusions, pairing with the more familiar acoustic aspects of Driftwood Scarecrow’s debut album.

The album itself explores “a journey through the wormhole of human psyche,” after being originally conceived as “a concept album revolving around English mathematician Alan Turing.” “Wormhole” is enjoyably exemplary of those heady concepts, starting right away with the “spiraling away through the wormhole of my mind,” scene-setting. Representations of personal biases and a tunnel-vision, alongside a yearning to turn back time, entrance alongside the trickling synth components and warming acoustic backbone. “Wormhole” has us firmly anticipating the forthcoming full-length.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
