Shadow Sides – “We Say Love But We Don’t Mean It”

/

Los Angeles-based band Shadow Sides compel with a laid-back rock dreaminess on new single “We Say Love But We Don’t Mean It.” Hypnotic guitar swirls and a sludgy bass line converge with a hushed vocal entrancement, complemented by spacey synth tones rounding the one-minute mark; the synth element appears sporadically throughout, standing out particularly well as it adorns the title-touting vocal segment past the mid-point. The consistently lush vocal tone and atmospheric guitar/synth interweaving make for a captivating production throughout the memorable “We Say Love But We Don’t Mean It.”

Shadow Sides elaborate on the track’s inspirations:

When you meet someone and start falling for them, but there’s one seemingly insurmountable problem that you both know probably cannot be overcome. So you protect your heart. It’s about a relationship that was amazing but fraught with problems leading to saying “I love you” but then breaking up and not truly putting each other first.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
