HEAR ME OUT – “Borderlands”

/

German act HEAR ME OUT unveil an affecting post-punk ferocity on “Borderlands,” the opening track on their debut EP, Permanent Thoughts. “Constructed lines define your rights,” vocals let out amidst a thumping bass line and ensuing guitar prancing. The tonal contrast between the bass-heavy sparsity and more erupting guitar/vocal interplay makes for a perpetual intrigue throughout, especially into the “I want chaos! I want peace!” exultation alongside soaring guitar jangles.

“Borderlands” is a gripping success from HEAR ME OUT, effectively pursuing timely themes of displacement and migration. HEAR ME OUT elaborate on the track: “Lyrically it is a product of our singer’s thoughts drifting away during a university class about migration, taking a critical point of view on nations as constructs and showing sympathy with those who have to abandon their homes.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
