Cris Cap + Tyla Raé – “Don’t You Cry”

/

Düsseldorf-based songwriter and producer Cris Cap teams up with Tyla Raé for the soulful pop success “Don’t You Cry,” emitting a caressing, hooky allure in its lyrical drive to leave troubles behind. The positive vibes and charismatic, soulful groove accompany smoothly melodic vocal performances from the duo. Rhodes piano intertwines with a whistling effect for an effervescent feeling, as the vocalists plead to not cry, reminding that it’s “always darkest before the dawn.”

“It’s so hard to lie awake at night,” the opening vocals admit, as a funky bass drive and illuminated synths drive into the debonair “yesterday’s gone,” moving-on. The ensuing guitar lick and “don’t you cry,” pleading proves infectious, meticulously styling the relaxed vocal reassurances with a tasteful, hooky blend of soul, funk, and pop.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
