David Moore and Westridge – ‘Get The Led Out!’

A timeless-sounding rock appeal lingers throughout Get The Led Out!, a new album from David Moore and Westridge. The Knox City, Texas-based singer/songwriter released an album in 2022 and 2023, both pursuing a more folk-ready vein of rock, and Get The Led Out! proudly struts an escalated tempo and rootsy rock invigoration, in comparison. The album features a variety of talented collaborators, including co-writer Chris McConville on the title track “Get The Led Out!”

In addition to proclaiming its more rock-friendly embrace, the title of Get The Led Out! also references Moore’s favorite band while growing up: Led Zeppelin. An evident appreciation for sounds of yesteryear combines with quality original songwriting from Moore, in addition to fantastic musicianship on display from the cast of players alongside Moore’s multi-instrumentalism: Brian Patterson (bass), Chris McConville (drums), Jim Patterson (guitar), Bill (Beldar) Malloy (guitars), Hollan Holmes (keys), and Wayne Jarvis (drums).

Get The Led Out! is consistently satisfying in its range of sounds, from the twangy guitar pulses and harmonica additions on “Paid My Dues” to the scorching rock theatrics within “Empty Man,” which showcases some seriously impressive guitar work. “Funk Off,” with its suave overall drive, is another charmer, as is the organ-laden warmness on finale “Open Your Heart.” Get The Led Out! is a quality output from David Moore and Westridge.

“Paid My Dues” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
