Pam Ross – “Fire in the Hole”

A rootsy rock playfulness succeeds throughout “Fire in the Hole,” a new single from North Carolina-based artist Pam Ross. The lead track from Ross’ debut album When Therapy Fails, “Fire in the Hole” struts a catching blend of Americana, country, and blues in its enjoyably rollicking sound — complemented by a jovial music video with an inviting barroom setting. The dancing patrons and local bar atmosphere are apt accompaniments to this enjoyable, spirited showcase from Ross.

“The bartender’s crazy, lighting 100 proof,” Ross’ vocals let out, exuding a friendly local bar with an uncertainty regarding how everyone will get home. The “perfume of whiskey hanging in the air,” furthers the atmosphere, centered around a title-touting refrain and a call for “one more round,” that invigorates. “Fire in the Hole” is a fun output from Pam Ross, fit for celebrating at the end of a hard work week, when one unites with friends for a night out.
