Inland Isle – “Born Ahead”

/

A catching folk-rock sound with bouncing piano and stirring horn adornments, “Born Ahead” is a new single from Inland Isle, a band from Jackson, Wyoming. The release is described as asking “why should I be unhappy when all my basic needs are met?” — conjuring a sound with shades of Father John Misty in its suave vocal drive and orchestral complements within a sturdy folk-rock nostalgia.

“Born ahead, now behind,” the chorus lets out, exuding a beautiful vulnerability as brassy warmness and bouncy piano culminate in an expression of contentment. Chirpy, melodic guitars follow in delightful form, with shades of ELO there. “Born Ahead” comes via the project’s upcoming album, In Denial, which we’re certainly now anticipating, following this standout success.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
