The Ivy Leagues – “life was good”

/

A bouncy, exuberant pop success from Chicago-based duo The Ivy Leagues, “life was good” compels in its capturing of joy and young love — and especially the desire to hold onto those beautiful days. A funky bass drive complement initial descriptions of incoming autumn — “yellow leaves, on the trees,” — as playful backing vocal encouragements complement carpe-diem joviality. “I never wanna leave this place, stay the same,” the vocals exude in the shimmering hook, showing an evident yearning for an escape into bliss. “life was good” easily induces replays.

The duo comprises studio/touring musician Ed Pogalz and songwriter Tony Klacz, who met at a show at an abandoned movie theater, when performing on the same bill but in different bands. Since then, their project The Ivy Leagues continues to succeed, particularly growing a fanbase on TikTok and collaborating with fashion brands like Karmic Couture.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
