FXN – ‘B4::fragments’ EP

/

B4::fragments is an inviting new EP from FXN, an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based artist whose ambient sound captivates here with a calm introspection. Spanning from the bright summer-y tranquilitty of “broken mirrors” to the more wintry chills within “it starts without – alt mix,” the EP impresses in its heady soundscapes. “disciples” is a blissfully meditative opener, infusing caressing synth pads amidst echoed bird-chirping. The synths resemble sun-kissed warmness on a summer day, complemented by tranquil sounds of nature. The airy electronic quality permeates with a beautiful sense of ease.

“broken mirrors” follows with a more glimmering envelopment. Bright synths wander as trickling water effects ride underneath, also feeling reflective of nature’s organic ebbs and flows. EP finale “it starts without – alt mix” brings forth a nocturnal character, haunting with a melancholic electronic subduedness, relative to the first two tracks’ more sunny-day disposition; all three tracks thoroughly excel in their gripping atmospheric constructions.

“disciples” is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Obscure Ambient.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
