A heartrending new track from NYC-based project Desk Job., “Camellia” compels in its reflective, smitten ardor. The track reflects on the early, fleeting magic of a now decade-long relationship, swelling from folk-set introspection into a rousing rock anthem as it celebrates the transformation of brief moments into a lifelong bond. The project’s fourth single moves from vulnerable initial folk settings — “words have never been my strength,” — into an outpouring: “gives me tunnel vision when I’m looking at your face.” The lyrics and vocal emotion enthrall in conveying true, enduring love.
Lead songwriter Kyle Grandillo elaborates further:
“I wrote this song about my wife, specifically the early days of our relationship, which is now over a decade old. When we met, she had her walls up and I very much did not! I wanted to be around her all the time and I made that clear, but she was much better at playing it cool than I was. When we would be together, I would try to remember every detail I possibly could. The room we were in, what she wore and whatever else would help me relive the night in my head later. Those nights would eventually come to an end and we would go our separate ways so it always felt like our time was so fleeting and there was never enough of it. So the obvious choice was to marry her so I’d always have more of those nights and more time.”
