Wynton Existing – “Planet Beach”

//

A fervent rock success from Nashville-based Wynton Existing, “Planet Beach” infuses ’90s alternative nostalgia with a modern psychedelic shine. A cosmic-minded psych-rock expanse complements apt themes of alienation and personal identity — culminating in a cathartic search for belonging. Feelings of being an “alien,” are conveyed grippingly alongside a stylish rock vigor.

As the band explains: “Planet Beach is derived from our favorite influences of the psychedelic, garage and surf rock sub-genres, taking influence from bands like Osees, King Gizzard, Frankie & the Witch Fingers & Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, while also taking big influence with the songs guitar tones and hard rock vocal melodies from some of our favorite 90’s predecessors like Nirvana, Alice in Chains & Soundgarden.”

“Planet Beach” kicks into gear with a seamless mixture of dazed psychedelia and ardent rock ‘n’ roll — intertwining heady guitar riffs and hazy wordless soaring into a rousing twang and opening vocal proclamation: “Cannot believe it / Found out I’m an alien.” An impassioned guitar solo invigorates past the two-minute turn, injecting a scorching rock charisma amidst the steady psych-rock steadiness. “Tell me where you want to go!” the vocals beckon thereafter, exhilarating in the ensuing “yeah!” impacts and textured guitar passion. “Planet Beach” is a rousing rock success from Wynton Existing.
