Isobel – “Ally”

Stockholm-based band Isobel consume on their debut single “Ally,” which develops seamlessly from acoustic-laden dreaminess into a textured invigoration of buzzing guitars. The project comprises Isabel Sondén, John Bergevald, and Filip Sjölander — crafting an aesthetic that unveils a hazy, contemplative charm reminiscent of influences like Big Thief, Alex G, and Mitski.

Coming ahead of a debut EP, anticipated to release later this year, “Ally” excels in its tonal ascent from lush intrigue into a more passionate rock swell. The mid-point is particularly compelling, as twangy guitars weave in sporadically prior to a burst of warming distortion and gripping vocal re-emergence. We’re excited for what’s next from this talented act.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
