OTHEOSE – “Sundown”

An emotively atmospheric success, “Sundown” is the debut single from OTHEOSE. The artist behind the project, Kevin Krouglow, has prolific success in writing for films, television, and commercials over the past decade — and that ability to create resonating music continues here with his project OTHEOSE. The track’s production stirs in its dynamic range — from initially spacious balladry into vibrant percussion and ardent vocal passion.

Thematically, the lyricism and escalating tonal direction is reflective of tumultous change and “the fear of life slipping away.” Introspective lyrics ruminate on confronting obstacles — “the mountain you’ve been climbing up is growing taller on you” — and ensuing struggles. The chiming piano and pit-pattering percussion arrives into a more fervent expanse, pairing with a newly invigorated vocal performance for a gripping ascent, depicting how “everyone is growing old” and a rush of being overwhelmed with time’s passages. “Sundown” is a riveting showing from OTHEOSE.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
