The Lower Coast – “Collective Exclusivity”

A stylish rock appeal shows on “Collective Exclusivity,” a memorable new single from Netherlands-based Brazilian duo The Lower Coast. The project first caught our ears with the track “Reset:Default” — and “Collective Exclusivity” is a stirring thematic continuation of that release.

“Reset:Default” depicted a protagonist coming to the painful realization that they’re no different from the very people they once judged. Now, completely disillusioned, they retreat into a delusional state, clinging to the haunting thought: “Who can forgive me if I’m on my own?” Still avoiding true accountability, they remain on a path of denial and self-pity — with redemption still being a future prospect, rather than imminent.

Emotively impactful vocals and wailing guitar tones stir throughout the track, with the “…if I’m on my own” higher-pitched vocal disposition being artfully reflective of the aforementioned themes. More nocturnal guitar pulses emanate during the verses, building with intrigue into the more enthused central hook — reminding fondly there of Super Furry Animals in its evolving, hooky spirit. “Collective Exclusivity” marks another success from The Lower Coast.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
