The Storm Windows – “I’m Going to Memphis”

/

A warming Americana appeal stirs on “I’m Going to Memphis,” an inviting track from The Storm Windows that absorbs in its twangy guitars, twinkling piano, and lyrical accounts of country-traversing sights. The project was originally a mainstay in the Greenwich Village music scene, and are now back following a hiatus.

“I’m going to Memphis, I’m gonna leave the past behind,” the vocals exude during the central chorus, then leading into verses that contemplate choosing “the highway” in aspirations for “something better down the road.” The hopeful overall spirit, and embrace of adventure, bolsters a melodic production to make “I’m Going to Memphis” an ideal pick for summer road trips and fans of introspective Americana in general.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
