Dungeon Dweller – “I’ve Been Meaning to Tell You”

/

Enamoring in its mixture of hazy electronic and lush guitar strums, “I’ve Been Meaning to Tell You” is a consuming new track from Dungeon Dweller. The artist conveys that the release is an overdue expression of emotion — an attempt to express feelings they struggled to put into words, ultimately letting the music speak where language failed. “It’s an apology and a confession I didn’t know how to put into language,” Dungeon Dweller explains, also noting: “I produced and recorded everything myself by manipulating Soundtrap loops and using an AKAI MPK mini keyboard and a Blue Yeti microphone.”

Clanging acoustic strums develop quickly into a hazy electronic textural pull, bolstered by thumping rhythmic immersion. The synths achieve further effervescence just prior to the one-minute turn, as bursting pulsations meld with the strumming guitars for a climactic build-up. Buzzing synths and sporadic clap infusions continue to expand thereafter; the alternations between bright electronic playfulness and understated strumming makes for a riveting sense of momentum throughout. Dungeon Dweller’s “I’ve Been Meaning to Tell You” succeeds memorably in both its atmospheric and melodic elements.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Electronic.
