White Dove is a riveting 3-track EP newly released from Post Death Soundtrack, coming quickly off the heels of the impressive full-length IN ALL MY NIGHTMARES I AM ALONE. The release — one of this year’s best so far — stirred with a sprawling, genre-bending journey through industrial rock, noise, and haunting folk, blending visceral intensity with introspective beauty. The White DoveĀ EP is a natural continuation, this time focusing thematically on confronting abuse and the subsequent adoption of camouflage — apt for a world presently filled with tumult.
The EP’s title track exudes a haunting soundscape, weaving eerie wordless vocal backings and ominous instrumentation as the opening vocals ask “mother, may I take the nosedive?” — as if descending into a darkness. The ensuing “ready to die” sequence grips in its bursting instrumentation and multi-layered vocal vigor; the striking production marks another success from the Calgary-based project of Stephen Moore.
The ensuing “Crimson Hand” weaves solemn piano and crackling, nocturnal lingering effects within an industrial-forward aesthetic. “I move in and out of form,” Moore’s vocals let out, reflecting the aforementioned element of camouflage when confronted with danger, past or present. EP finale “Playing Shadow” is another foreboding delight, seamlessly incorporating repeating vocal elements — invoking a sort of descending momentum — while the second half stirs in its warbled synth pulsations. The three captivating tracks here are masterful displays in songwriting and atmosphere from Post Death Soundtrack, continuing a very strong 2025.
