quinn bee – “ants in the sugar”

//

A funk-tinged psych-rock chilliness enthralls on “ants in the sugar,” a fantastic new track from quinn bee. Ghostly, wordless vocals and twangy guitar mystique traverse into a gripping vocal lead, using the “ants in the sugar” comparison to convey a sense of devouring. “You never tell me what you need, you only tell me how you feel,” the vocals let out during a grippingly melodic ascent, depicting the complexities of relationships in regard to commitment — and the knack for both blissful highs and devastating lows.

This project is fronted by Quinn Brodsky, a Texas-born folk and alternative artist who is also the frontwoman of Tailwind, a funk-rock band based in Boston, and also forms one half of the eclectic duo SIBLINGS.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
