Zekiizo – “Kiss”

A sensual, stylish pop intrigue flows throughout “Kiss,” the new single from Zekiizo. The NYC-based artist, who is originally from Boston, melds nocturnal synth tones with a strong vocal entrancement, dazzling with whisper-y suaveness and relation-focused introspection. Zekiizo describes the release as “an uptempo, moody song about how I feel in a new relationship compared to an older one.”

She continues: “It’s gritty and has a touch of self-centeredness and expresses how the transition to a new person after an ended relationship often feels unfair for both parties, but in this one in particular, they both get something out of it — lust and intimacy.”

Spacey synth glimmers and wordless vocal effects lead into a heady vocal enthrallment, admitting “it’s not personal how I left you, on the floor of your room in the mess that I made, in the sheets that you laid.” The “left you” sentiments are repeated with hypnotic allure, while the ensuing “nothing but a mini-skirt on” descriptions invoke that aforementioned lust and intimacy — conjuring feelings of renewal and excitable catharsis. A title-touting vocal refrain appears thereafter, continuing to balance dark pop intoxication and infectious creativity.

“Kiss” is a captivating pop success from Zekiizo, artfully capturing the transition from a past relationship to a new one, along with the sense of mutual fulfillment found in both lust and intimacy. We’re excited to hear what’s next.
