Alex Krawczyk – “Love Through Sound”

/

Showcasing a heartfelt fusing of folk and Americana in its classic-rock appeal, “Love Through Sound” is a resonating new track from Alex Krawczyk, a Toronto-based artist with a penchant for quality songwriting; she is a Canadian Folk Music Awards nominee, and drew ample praise for previous singles like “Better Days” and “Rhythm of the Road.” Her latest success, “Love Through Sound” was co-written with longtime collaborator Robbie Roth, and is described as an “ode to unity, peace, and the transcendent power of music.”

The track also shows an evident appreciation for the Grateful Dead, with references to their tracks like “Cumberland Blues” and “Casey Jones” within the lyrics. It also released on August 1st, Jerry Garcia’s birthday. Krawczyk calls the release a “thank you song” to the legendary band, and its many iterations, for their inspiration. “I am grateful to all of the band members for the wisdom and healing in their soulful melodies and rhythms, and for the love-filled community they have fostered, showing that music can reach across divides to foster unity and peace,” Krawczyk says.

Melding a timeless-sounding folk and rock cohesion with a modern aesthetical savvy, reminiscent of Weyes Blood, “Love Through Sound” navigates with a seamlessly melodic charm. Acoustic strums and twangy guitars arrive into Krawczyk’s riveting, cool vocal presence. “Casey Jones you’ve got me riding high,” she sings, later referencing going down to the “Cumberland mines” and being regaled by “Uncle Sam’s blues” replaying. Psych-friendly guitar twangs infuse with harmonious, wordless vocal backings thereafter. A title-touting refrain compels into the track’s satiating conclusion. “Love Through Sound” is an affecting display of quality songwriting from Alex Krawczyk.
