IT SOUND – “It’s Called Blood”

/

Channeling a post-punk and psych-ready rock experimentation, “It’s Called Blood” is a standout track from Seattle-based artist IT SOUND. The lead single and title track from the project’s upcoming LP, out on October 10th via Seahorse Recordings, “It’s Called Blood” enamors with its balancing of dreamily hypnotic entrancement and sturdy rock undercurrents. The release also features a music video, directed by Rockland Bazemore, that’s delectably trippy in its kaleidoscope-like imagery and array of colors.

“It’s Called Blood” unveils with enjoyably atmospheric rock intrigue. Murky guitars and faint percussive click-clacking maneuver into a nonchalant vocal feeling, rumbling with hypnotic impact into a quick-hitting “it’s called blood” vocal refrain. Eerie, spacey electronic tones linger with nocturnal effect amidst the angular, jangling guitar work as the track’s mid-point approaches.

The steady guitar crawls, sporadic synths, and continuously suave vocals make for a fantastic, stylish aesthetic, with shades of The Fall’s The Marshall Suite crossed with a more modern rock and post-punk punch, à la Swell Maps. “It’s Called Blood” is a thorough success from IT SOUND that has us firmly anticipating the upcoming full-length.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
