Bleak Streak – “Dork Shadows”

/

Stockholm-based trio Bleak Streak unveil an ominous, poignantly scathing rock invigoration on new single “Dork Shadows.” A quaint assortment of piano, brass, and simmering orchestration make for an introspective opening, which then develops into a thrashing rock vigor with jangling guitars and spirited percussion. “Dork shadows approaching,” the vocals let out there. “Geeks with rich parents thrive.”

Various vocal layers meld with the bursts of guitars and brass-y blaring throughout. Its themes prove resonant, lamenting the rise of “tech dorks” who “conquer, divide, and rule over us both behind the scenes and in plain sight. Dork shadows cast darkness upon our times.” On “Dork Shadows,” the band achieve a fervent, replay-inducing sound with enjoyably modern thematic laments.
