A hopeful, beautifully serene piano-driven sound compels on “Angel Gabriels Light,” a recently released single from Karen Salicath Jamali. Her track “Angel Raphaels Touch” caught our ears in July with its lushly absorbing sound, and now “Angel Gabriels Light” conveys a similarly hypnotic, introspective power. These tracks, and others, continue a natural drive to create music for Jamali, who had a near-death experience in 2012 and has used music as a tool for healing and discovery since then.
“Though I had never played piano before, or composed, I suddenly could,” Jamali explains. “It became my healing — and now, I share this healing with you.” Of this track specifically, she explains: “This soft, emotional piece came to me in a dream — as many of my compositions do. It carries the energy of Archangel Gabriel, the divine messenger of hope known across the world, and cultures. Angels bring us all together especially Gabriel.”
Subdued, dreamy piano layers flow with a memorable weightlessness, ethereal and reflective as the steadily introspective notes combine with more effervescent tones. A particularly impactful trickling of piano, approaching the two-minute turn, sends chills into the finale — feeling subdued and lulling in its satiating send-off. “Angel Gabriels Light” is another moving, melodic success from Karen Salicath Jamali.
