Nico Cann – “Lose My Mind”

Channeling a compelling rock and pop synergy that draws inspiration from both ’80s inventiveness and classic novel The Catcher in the Rye, “Lose My Mind” is a stirring success from London-based artist Nico Cann. These nostalgic influences coexist with a modern, anthemic punch — particularly in the soaring “you make me lose my mind” admissions, set within sharp guitar jangling and an all-out sense of infectious enthusiasm. The track, which Cann wrote in Milan in January 2023, also features his friend Nicholas Richards on an excellent concluding guitar solo.

“At its heart, the song reflects on the memory of a childhood love — a time of innocence, instinct, and unfiltered emotion before the weight of adult life set in,” Cann says. “It’s about longing for a past that never truly existed—a time that never was.”

Bursts of magnetic guitar tones emanate right away, bolstered by shimmering piano additions and head-nodding percussion as Cann’s vocals emerge with a confidently melodic allure. A beckoning for childhood spontaneity and capriciousness stirs in the ascent to the chorus, as Cann recounts a beloved who would ask “do you mind if I just behave, behave like a child? Innocent and full of life.”

The ensuing “baby go ahead” urgings show a smitten sense, followed by a forlorn yearning in the “we should have gone for a long run” retrospection. “We got lost in the wind, but all I can say is I loved those days,” his vocals continue, sounding like a cross of Springsteen’s crooning relatability and Bryan Adams’s past-loving sentiments. “Lose My Mind” is a riveting, heartfelt success from Nico Cann.
