BABY B unveils a consuming, dynamic pop allure on debut single “Because” and the recently released “If We Could,” both excelling with hook-ready immediacy and layered atmospheric entrancement. The project of BRIT-nominated, Manchester-based songwriter Sarah Blanchard, BABY B is on a rapid ascent with these two standout releases.
Described as being born from heartbreak and rejection, “Because” opens with twanging guitar allure, quickly complemented by a pulsing bass and synth synergy. Blanchard’s vocals prove magnetic throughout, particularly in the “because of you” lushly riveting sequence — hypnotizing as the bouncy bass and heart-tugging textures combine. “Because” is an affirming, replay-inducing electro-pop success.
Also a standout, “If We Could” is described as “about seeing yourself from a higher perspective” — taking specific inspiration from Men I Trust, The Japanese House, and The Beatles. Ethereal acoustics and woodwinds cast a more introspective sound, while the ensuing “if we could float above the world” chorus touts a free-flying charm, mellow and inviting in its folk and pop cohesion. Both tracks are thorough successes from BABY B.
