EXGHOST – “Beneath the Sky”

Spacey synths and sturdy guitar strums intertwine with magnetic impact on “Beneath the Sky,” a newly released track from EXGHOST, an Ohio-based project led by Ed Shuttleworth. “Can you laugh all your life?” a commanding vocal presence emits to start, with tonal shades of Mark Hollis. The ensuing “swept away, like the ocean on a stormy day” line signals a sense of blissful surrender, while the “face covered in dirt and wine” descriptions further the alluring carpe-diem lack of inhibition.

These free-flying lyrical sentiments combine with a triumphant melding of synths and guitars for a clanging, feel-good melodic enjoyment, bolstered by a mid-point guitar entry that gorgeously melds with further synth incorporations. “Beneath the Sky” is a resonating success from EXGHOST, succeeding in both atmosphere and palpable emotion.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
