Philadelphia-based band Heavy Tears deliver a mellow, atmospheric rock warmness on “Velvet Walk.” Comforting bass pulses and gentle guitar twangs bolster an amiable vocal feeling, with a reference to “when the weekend’s just begun” continuing that warmly embracing, feel-good vibes.
A spine-tingling shift takes hold as the “down by the river” descriptions emerge, beckoning to “keep on walking” as haunting vocal harmonies linger in the background. Added guitar jangles flourish with additional charm thereafter, arriving into a lovely final minute with more expressive guitar layering and pit-pattering percussion. The heartfelt “if you want me” vocal rise delights there, as does the hazy guitar affections. “Velvet Walk” is a stirring success from Heavy Tears.
