Hypnotic acoustic strums, psych-friendly guitar twangs, and melodic vocal introspection charm across “Petey’s Little Song,” a new track from John Canevaro. Representing the finale to 5-track EP Bedda, “Petey’s Little Song” captures the act of “choosing a new love before you’re done healing from your last heartbreak.”
The idyllic initial setting — “Sunday pancakes in the morning” — pairs with the grim reality: “In ten days, I’ll be gone.” Canevaro’s debonair vocal tone moves seamlessly amidst the swaying guitar enjoyment, culminating in a catching title-bearing refrain. The elements of moving too early after a relationship’s demise are captured artfully — “your heart, it wasn’t ready…” — in addition to a magnetic, warming repetition.
