Takses – “Shift Change”

A captivating atmospheric journey from Brooklyn-based project Takses, “Shift Change” enamors across a variety of soundscapes — from spacious, ambient trickling of gentle guitars, to the arrival of vocals. A chilling yearning “to be beautiful” pairs with bouncy bass and glistening guitars, then maneuvering into a haunting second half, where bellowing glimpses of distortion exude a delectably unsettling appeal.

“Shift Change” is an enveloping showcase of textural structural momentum from Takses, comprising Ryan Honaker (Souls and Cities, Divisor, Ionophore) and Michael Robert Findlay (Lost Gloves, Systems). Ambient, dream-pop, art-pop, and electronic elements converge with seamless entrancement throughout this gem.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
