“state of indigo” is another lushly melodic rock success from Yasu Cub, the Tokyo-based band who has caught our ears in the past couple months with tracks like “all this time” and “Enoshima.” Led by Atlanta-born songwriter Jacob Oki Ahearn, Yasu Cub’s magnetic, texturally evolving rock tendencies result in a thoroughly replay-inducing sound across these three recent singles — setting up for a very promising 2026 for the project, when they’ll be releasing a new album.
“state of indigo” represents the closing track on that forthcoming album, entitled my early years, your spiral arms — and releasing in March 2026. The single’s warming guitar jangles and lyrical reminiscing drive into perspectives of a “perfect moment” as bursts of guitar arrive, audibly resembling a sense of catharsis and joy as the concluding vocals then ask aptly: “Do you believe in the past, and its relevance?” We’re wholly anticipating the upcoming full-length.
