“Satisfy Your Mind” is a rousing rock success from Australian band Clay Brown & the Trouble Round Town, balancing a timeless bluesy invigoration alongside soulfully resonant vocal emotion. Fronted by Brown, who is renowned as amongst Perth’s most versatile guitarists, the band represents his first solo venture — alongside a talented lineup of musicians including drummer Jess June (The Tommyhawks), bassist Zoe Gol (Single Cell Sharks), and lead guitarist Michael Menna (Art of Dysfunction).
Brown previously found success across an array of styles and projects, from the shoegaze-forward The Limbs to the grungy ardor of Filth Wizard and jazz-fusion dynamics of King Proteus. This latest project first appeared in late 2024 with a double single, followed by the alt-folk and rock synergy apparent within “All My Friends (Atrophy)” the following April. Then came “No Place” last October with a jangly rock spirit, and now arrives the delectably bluesy “Satisfy Your Mind.”
“When it comes down, it won’t make a sound,” suave vocals open, referring to a “silent killer” as melodic guitars ring out. “When you feel like, like there’s no way out,” they accelerate into a reassuring, melodic chorus — beckoning to “take it slow” and satisfy your soul/mind. It’s poignant advice, and directly epitomizes the track’s overall theme, which is modern-age navigation of the digital age, with social media pressures leading to feelings of comparison-induced insecurity rather than the pursuit of one’s own rewarding personal journey. The track’s embrace of individuality pairs with a twangy, spirited rock production for a wholly replay-inducing success from the Australian act.
