New single “Secrets In Your Eyes” showcases Yash Kapoor‘s mastery of cinematic, late-night synth-pop and alternative R&B. Los Angeles–based and Berklee-trained, Kapoor blends lush harmonies, minimal percussion, and emotionally immersive production, crafting introspective music that fuses vulnerability, sophistication, and replay-ready depth. A melodic, vibe-y production combines with heady themes exploring emotional ambiguity for a riveting listening experience.
The track unfolds with artful momentum — initially strutting a murky, thumping intrigue that develops into arp-y, industrial synths and Kapoor’s magnetic vocal presence. The “racing at midnight” lyrical depiction furthers a nocturnal sense, carried by the nifty synth work and dreamy vocal tint. Shades of Cut Copy, with a lusher disposition, shows in the production. A title-bearing sequence also stirs, with additional starry-eyed synths complementing Kapoor’s “drowning in the void” darker, melancholic outpourings.
An especially memorable moment takes hold just after 01:30, when a clanging synth effervescence intertwines with Kapoor’s ascending vocals — admitting to being unable to recognize oneself, and struggling to let go and move on. “I run from the voices as they scream my name,” the vocals continue into another consuming series of verses, expanding into a final glistening hook as the track comes to a wholly satisfying close. “Secrets In Your Eyes” is a consuming, standout success from Yash Kapoor.
