Jared Bond – “AlgoRhYtHm”

A climactic, hypnotic sound proves apt within Jared Bond‘s excellent new track “AlgoRhYtHm,” tackling the modern age’s emphasis on consumerism and algorithms within a blissful melding of alt-pop and psych-rock. Its verses move forth with a funk-touched warmness, while the vocals lament “drowning in pixels” and dopamine-driven exploitation. “It’s a rhythm of distraction,” his vocals continue, accelerating into heavy doses of guitar distortion as the track assumes a riveting rock-ready charisma. “Dance with your AlgoRhYtHm,” Bond’s vocals let out with buzzing resonance during the excellent chorus, which then traverses seamlessly back into the delectably dazed verses.

The track’s final minute bridges the more rousing rock-friendly moments with the initially lush introspections, resulting in a sound that simultaneously embraces more distortion while retaining the moody rhythmic emphasis that sets the track into such beautiful initial motion. “AlgoRhYtHm” stirs as a resounding success from Jared Bond, whose modern thematic commentary proves insightful and relevant, within a sound that’s consistently melodic and stylish.

The release marks a fully memorable return for the Kansas City-based artist, whose growth as a songwriter follows a major label background as a drummer for Josephine Collective. Recorded at Aorist Studios, the track benefits from a decade of chemistry with engineer David Bennett and bassist Jim Embry. By capturing a live, rhythmic essence, Bond translates his social media liberation into a fresh, collaborative triumph.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
