Jeff Kolhede – “Special One”

A serenely melodic single from Jeff Kolhede, “Special One” enamors with a laid-back bossa nova and pop intertwining. Mellow guitars and gentle Wurlitzer meld with subtle rhythms to start, moving seamlessly into Kolhede’s smooth vocal allure. “This can’t go on, no I don’t really want to be someone I’m not,” a vulnerable vocal entrancement lets out, progressing into a soulful admission that “I’m caught up in your ways.” A warming saxophone bolsters the intoxicating mix, delighting across both its introspective and “caught up in your ways” smitten expanse, while added twangy guitars complement a wholly satiating conclusion.

Danceable yet also romantic and sophisticated, “Special One” is a standout success from Jeff Kolhede. It represents the first single from his upcoming album Novel Tea, out on May 16th.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
