Lena Fjortoft – “Tugboat”

A stirring track from New York-based artist Lena Fjortoft, “Tugboat” pairs twangy guitar allure and serenely caressing vocal layers amidst themes capturing the heavy lifting of moving on from heartbreak, cleverly reframing it as a grueling, involuntary workout for the soul. “I’m working out my heart, yeah, yeah,” the magnetic vocals let out. “Heartbreak wakes me up half past dawn.” Fjortoft’s amiable vocals remind fondly of Tennis’ Alaina Moore, complemented by a serene backing harmony reflectiveness, and a stellar twanging guitar emphasis that drives into the track’s finale. “Tugboat” is a memorable overall success from Lena Fjortoft.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
